Capturing Light
I took these photos at all times of the day from 3pm-9pm. They were lit from the sun in the sky and the stadium lights. All of my photos were taken with some type of greenery in it. They also have contrasting elements from the sky to the ground. There were plenty of shadows that accompanied the light, including the fence photo where you can actually see the shadows on the other side of the metal. also the photo of the people walking on the sidewalk with the shadows on the side. A lot of the lighting preferences i chose made the images seem very eery or mysterious like especially in black and white.

Mirrors
Written Reflection:white and yellow flowers with mirror on the ground
What was your location and setting?
The location was in the courtyard at the high school during the early afternoon.
How did you use positioning of the mirror and camera to create your composition?
I put the mirror on the ground and then stood over the flowers then played around with the aperture settings.
Were you able to create anything unexpected in your reflection?
I did not expect to get the reflection in focus with the actual flowers not in focus, that was a cool surprise.
How does your setting contrast with the rest of your image?
the rest of the image is concrete and bland, and the flowers and the mirror contrasts with more bright colors.
Are your photos unexpected? evocative? confusing? playful? Funny?
they are very bright and colorful.
What idea/concept are your reflection photos about?
they are based around the grand concept of nature and nurture.
Were you able to blur the line between illusion and reality? How?
the photo of the pink flower on the top right and all the way left on the middle row blur the lines tremendously, and just look like a plain photo, therefore blurring the lines between illusion and reality.
What photographer/artist most influenced your photos?
Sebastian Magnani most influenced my photos by showing what is above and below a mirror with the illusion of an empty space through the mirror. it was mostly influenced with the yellow and white flowers with the square mirror on the ground.

Cyanotypes
Steps to make a cyanotype
- paint a piece of watercolor paper with light sensitive solution
- print out inverted image onto transparency.
- place the dry painted paper and the inverted image face up and clip them together on a board
- expose them in direct sunlight. if you have a light image expose the image for shorter than if you have a dark photo.
- take the final product after the time is up and wash it in water carefully until you cannot see anymore yellow on the watercolor paper. remember to not get the inverted image wet incase you want to redo the project.
- take hydrogen peroxide and rinse the water color, then leave to dry.
